the Welsh 3000's challenge walk.

There are 15 mountains in Snowdonia over 3000 feet. Together they represent the Welsh 3000s challenge. From the airy heights and exposure of Crib Goch and Snowdon to the wild and remote peaks of the Carneddau range and the rocky lunar landscape of the Glyders precipices of Tryfan, the full range of mountain terrain is experienced.

Overview of the Welsh 3000's challenge walk.

To complete the Welsh 3000's involves walking a route of about 26 miles from the top of Snowdon to Foel Fras, including a route which is some 30 miles (48km) long, with an overall vertical ascent of over 11,500ft (3,500m) and fourteen or fifteen summits (fifteen if Garnedd Uchaf is counted).

The aim for welsh 3000 is to make of ascents of all the following peaks witin a single 24 hour period. The first sub 24 hour circiut as far as records show was made by Eustance Thomas in 1919. He took 22 and a half hours to complete the task (The Welsh Three Thousands - Footpath guides 1947) We can help you whether you wish to set yourself a challenge or just enjoy three classic ridge walks of Snowdonia.

Garnedd Uchaf is not always included, as it has the least relative height, being little more than a bump on the ridge. However, the tough Welsh 3000s challenge (all 15 in 24 hours) includes it. You will ascend all the fourteen/ fifteen of the 3000 foot high mountains over the three days, then in the evening you will be able to relax and exchange tales of the days adventures in the bar of your chosen accommodation.
